We’re excited to announce that we’re once again partnering with Northern Pride and Curious Arts to fund creative commissions as part of the brand-new Pride Fringe Festival and Newcastle Pride 2025.
Part of our work at Creative Cental NCL is to create more opportunities for artists and creatives and work with a widegroup of partners to help them work with artists more regularly in their day-to-day business.
That’s why we’re pleased to be able to support five opportunities for artists to create new or develop existing work for Newcastle Pride 2025.
The opportunities
The five opportunities are:
- two creative commissions, each with £2,500 of funding for artists to develop ambitious new work,
- three Research and Development Get Ready grants of £750 each to help spark new ideas or enhance existing projects.
Together with Northern Pride, we invite artists to respond to the theme Unapologetically Visible, reflect on what visibility means, and bring that to life through any preferred art form. All forms of creativity are welcome — from performance and visual arts to digital work, music, writing, and more.

It’s great to be working in partnership with Northern Pride again to support more creative commissions from talented local artists.
“We’re hoping to see applications from creators, performers, activists, producers and artists across the North East. With the exciting addition of Pride Fringe for 2025, there are even more opportunities for the creative community to express themselves and share their art in Newcastle city centre.”
Newcastle Pride 2025
This year marks the launch of the very first Pride Fringe Festival, running through June 2025, bringing live entertainment, theatre, comedy, networking events, and new experiences to venues across Newcastle city centre. This all builds up to Newcastle Pride weekend on 19 and 20 July 2025 — a vibrant celebration packed with live entertainment, family activities, wellbeing support, and the much-loved Pride march.
