Following a recent call out, we’re pleased to announce that the following artists have been commissioned to create new artwork for Forth Lane Urban Galley in 2025 – adding to the existing artworks installed in 2024.

The latest additions to Forth Lane Urban Gallery will feature new murals all inspired by the theme Pleasure Garden, by artists:

  • Bex Masters, a gilder and oil painter will create ‘Kundalini’ a mural inspired by their multicultural upbringing.
  • Bethan Harris, an artist known for her expressive use of colour will create a piece inspired by the Northumberland landscape.
  • Street artist MarkOne87 will work with residents of Tyneside Foyer to create a mural informed by their own creative direction and interpretation of the theme.
  • Illustrator Josie Brookes will work with students from Newcastle College on a collaborative mural.

These artists will join six others, installed in 2024, when the Forth Lane Urban Gallery was first launched as a partnership between Creative Central NCL, Newcastle Arts Centre, Project North East, and NE1.

  • Chris Fleming, a stencil artist, who created two portraits of Newcastle residents with bright, headpieces inspired by nature, flora and fauna.
  • Glenn Malpass, a street artist specialising in graffiti, who created the large-scale mural you can now see across the whole of the lane.
  • Jed Buttress, an award-winning investigative artist, who installed a 3D wall mural that resembles historical carvings inspired by the city.
  • Laura Sheldon, created a striking, illustrated green mural inspired by Victorian pleasure gardens.
  • Rebecca Purnell, created a detailed and delicate piece of ordinary people becoming one with nature.
  • Tallulah Lines, created a bright, bold, magical, and surreal piece inspired by the freedom and joy of nature.
