Forth Lane Urban Gallery Five Commissions

11:59pm, Wednesday 24 July

Open To

We’re partnering with Newcastle Arts Centre and PNE to fund five new commissions for the Forth Lane Urban Galley.

Forth Lane provides an exciting opportunity for Newcastle Arts Centre and Creative Central NCL to collaborate and create a vibrant urban outdoor gallery in Forth Lane. With multiple creative opportunities, the projects could transform this historic alleyway, turning it from a neglected passageway to a destination.

Part of this project is to fund five murals to be displayed where the existing picture frames currently are along Forth Lane.

The theme for the urban gallery is Pleasure Garden. This project sits within a wider theme of the public art portfolio of the City called Hidden City’ which includes works that reveal the histories and hidden stories of the city.

What is it?

We’re funding five opportunities for artists to create a new piece of artwork for the Forth Lane Urban Gallery in central Newcastle. Each of the five commissions include:

  • £800 commission fee
  • Short-term studio space at Newcastle Arts Centre or at Assembly House
  • Support from stakeholders, Newcastle Arts Centre, PNE and Creative Central NCL and networking events with other artists in the programme

Who is it for?

It’s for all artists and creatives who want to create a new piece of work for the outdoor urban gallery at Forth Lane.

What are the non-negotiable criteria?
